The European Union Delegation to the Republic of Belarus, Minsk, is looking for:

Driver in the Administration Section.

We are

The European Union (EU) is an economic and political partnership between 27 European countries. It plays an important role in international affairs through diplomacy, trade, development aid and working with global organizations. Abroad, the EU is represented through more than 140 diplomatic representations, known also as EU Delegations, which have a similar function to those of an embassy.

The EU Delegation to the Republic of Belarus, Minsk works in close coordination with the Embassies and Consulates of the 27 EU Member States. We are a fully-fledged diplomatic mission and represent the European Union in dealings with the Belarusian government in areas that are part of the EU’s remit.

We offer

The post of Driver, Local Agent Group V, in the Delegation’s Administration Section (2-years fixed-term contract renewable). The team consists of 14 people and there are occasional atypical working hours.
Under this post, the recruited person will be attributed functions depending on the needs of the Delegation, and on the changes of these needs. The successful candidate will serve under the supervision and responsibility of the Head of Administration Section, providing support, expertise and assistance in the transportation of the Delegation’s staff and maintenance of service vehicles.

Following main tasks and duties are currently required:

• Ensuring transportation support to the Delegation’s staff members;

• Assuming the responsibility for Delegation’s vehicles and ensuring that the vehicles are in a clean and roadworthy state at all times (if any work on a car has to be done outside working hours, especially at weekends, prior authorization must be obtained from the Head of Delegation);

• Carrying out checks each morning of the basic mechanical function of the vehicle and reporting any damage immediately to the Head of Administration;

• Being responsible for periodic maintenance, service and necessary repairs (follow-up, subscription, documents) subject to the authorization of the Head of Administration;

• Participating actively and timely in the budgetary planning related to the Delegation’s vehicles;

• Maintaining a duly log book of the vehicle;

• Carrying out driving assignments authorized by the Head of Administration and/or Head of Delegation and informing him / her immediately when there are changes in the programmed schedule;

• Ensuring the safety and security of all occupants of Delegation vehicle during missions and other voyages;

• Assisting the expatriate staff members with customs and registration procedures;

• Mail and messenger services;

• Performing small purchases for the Delegation;

• Following the mandatory medical examinations and the validity of the required documents;

• Official dress code when applicable;

• Assist with small repair and logistic works in the office and at the Residence;

• Any other tasks designated by the Head of Administration and/or Head of Delegation.

The base salary will depend on relevant and verified employment experience, typically starting from 783 EUR. There is a competitive benefits package, subject to certain conditions, including personal leave days and public holidays, health insurances and a retirement savings plan.

The expected start date will be 16 July 2025.

Minimum requirements / eligibility criteria (necessary for the application to be considered)

  • Minimum of secondary education or equivalent;
  • Valid driving license – minimum category B;
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in the field of transportation - professional driver - with a clean driving record;
  • Working knowledge of English, proficient written and spoken command of Belarusian and/or Russian language
  • Good command of Windows and relevant MS Office applications, such as Outlook, Excel and Word.

Assets / selection criteria (basis for awarding points to select the best applicant)

  • Training in Servicing, operation and repair of motor vehicles, Road Safety awareness, Defensive driving certificate or equivalent.
  • Driving license category higher than B.
  • Working experience with a diplomatic mission, international organization.
  • Excellent written and spoken command of English language.
  • Good written and spoken command of other EU working languages such as French and/or German.
  • Excellent command of Windows and relevant MS Office applications, such as Excel and Word.

The successful candidate will be subject to a medical check, background check, etc whatever is relevant.

The process

After the deadline for applications, the eligible applications will be admitted to the Selection by the Committee set up for this purpose.

Depending on the number of applications received, successive phases of Selection may include shortlisting of candidates based on assessment of the information provided in the application; practical testing (driving, writing test) and interviews.

Short-listed candidates may be requested to send additional supporting documents.

Three (3) best candidates will be invited to the final interview.

Only candidates admitted to each successive selection phase will be contacted individually. The Delegation will use the same means of publication as for this job advertisement to inform the remaining candidates once the recruitment procedure has been completed and that a candidate has (or has not) been recruited.

The Delegation will not supply additional information or discuss the selection procedure. During the selection process, please do not contact the members of the Selection Committee, but address your questions and comments to the Delegation’s Administration.
